How will my work be assessed
At Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences, your work is assessed based on it’s achievement of the “must have” and “go further” assessment criteria for each challenge capstone (these are available on the final capstone page for each challenge).
Depending on your achievement of “must have” and “go further” assessment criteria, your work will be graded at four levels*:
- Achieved with distinction (all must-haves and all go-furthers were achieved)
- Achieved with honors (all must-haves and at least half of all go-furthers were achieved)
- Achieved (all must-haves and less than half of all go-furthers achieved)
- Not yet achieved (<100 percent of the must-haves have been achieved) - Requires resubmission
After you have submitted your work you will receive feedback from the challenge tutor and/or the challenge owner. This will highlight areas you performed well on, areas for improvement and discuss any missing assessment criteria.
Please note: The PM and MSC Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and technology program grades are officially certified by WU executive academy. As such, these grades will appear slightly differently on your final certificates. Please see the following pages for more details:
Receiving a Not Yet Achieved
If you don’t meet all the “must have” criteria on your first submission, these will be highlighted by the challenge owner/tutor in your feedback, and you’ll be given the opportunity to resubmit your work via the app.
Resubmissions should occur within 1 week of receiving feedback. If you require an extension here, please reach out to the challenge owner/tutor who graded your work.
You are permitted 5 submission attempts in total for each challenge. If you are still unable to achieve the challenge at this point, you will need to retake the challenge and submit again with the next cohort.
A detailed guide to resubmission can be found below:
Guide to assessment success
In order to get the most out of your learning experience and set yourself up for success when developing your final capstone submissions we recommend the following:
✅ Check the assessment criteria
Make sure your work addresses all the must have assessment criteria before submission. Be sure to care to read the assessment criteria before developing and submitting your work. Consider asking a peer to double check your work, and compare this to the required criteria before submission
📚 Support your work with evidence
Research papers, business examples, white papers, all of these can be useful resources for providing invaluable subject knowledge, supporting your arguments and as examples.
🔖 Properly cite your evidence
When using evidence to support your findings/arguments, remember to properly cite and reference the original authors. A guide to proper referencing can be found in the activation phase thesis guidelines, and within the WU guide to academic good conduct which includes this page specifically focused on proper citation.
💜 All ToU learners While different challenges may have specific sources for the most relevant information and evidence, the following are great tools for finding research (primarily, peer-reviewed research papers) for supporting your work:
- Google Scholar
- ScienceDirect.com | Science, health and medical journals, full text articles and books.
- Home Feed | ResearchGate (this is also a great tool for finding experts!)
✍️ Writing style
Effectively communicating your findings and arguments is an essential skill which not only makes your work more readable, but helps convey complex ideas in an engaging manner. The following is a useful resource for effective written communication.
©️ Know how to avoid plagiarism
While we actively encourage building on the ideas of previous research and collaborating with your peers, both of these must be conducted with academic rigor and given proper accreditation. A guide to avoiding plagiarism (i.e. passing work off as your own without credit to other authors/collaborators) can be found here.
🤖 Using AI
As part of our commitment to promoting innovation and collaboration within the fields of sustainability, entrepreneurship, and technology, we encourage you to explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in your submissions. When doing so, please be sure to follow our guidelines on AI usage and academic integrity.
