Assessment Guide: MSc SET Intake 14

Weighted assessment criteria for MSc SET Intake 14

Inline with the new WU executive academy accreditation requirements, the MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Technology will include a weighted assessment component. As such, your progress will not only be evaluated based on your final capstone submission, but also your completion of the asynchronous content and participation in live sessions.

The weighted grading for each challenge of the MSc SET will generally follow the below framework:

  • Live session participation: 20%
  • Lesson completion: 20%
  • Capstone completion (all elements): 60%

For challenge specific weighted grading components, please see the MSc program syllabus

🗨️ Live session participation

The interaction between faculty and students in the classroom is crucial for shaping learning outcomes. Each participant brings a wealth of industry experience and perspective, emphasizing the importance of sharing and engaging with fellow students to enrich both individual and collective learning experiences. To foster this collaborative learning process, class participation is integrated into the grading for the MSc program (20% final grade).

While evaluation of this can vary between challenges, the below provides an overview of how class participation is evaluated.

Description
Criteria Non (0%) LOW (50%) MEDIUM (75%) HIGH (100%)
Frequency of Participation Does not attend live session Rarely engages in discussions or activities. Participates in discussions or activities sporadically. Consistently engages in discussions or activities.
Quality of Contributions Does not contribute Contributions lack depth, relevance, or critical thinking Contributions are somewhat relevant and demonstrate basic understanding. Contributions are insightful, well-reasoned, and add significant value to discussions.

🏛️ Lesson completion

Twenty percent of your grade for each challenge will be determined based upon your completion of the asynchronous content. As completion of this is mandatory for challenge completion, you must complete all lesson content via the app (thus receiving 100% of the 20% weighting) prior to submission of the final capstones.

📖 Capstone completion

Sixty percent of your grade for each challenge will be determined based upon your completion of the final capstone. Your final capstones will be graded with a competency based rubric. Rubric based assessment supports our Competency-Based Learning (CBL) approach, which focuses on what you learn and how you apply it, rather than how much time you spend learning.

Key aspects of CBL include:

  • Mastery over time spent: Progress is based on demonstrating mastery of a competency, not the duration of study.
  • Actionable feedback: Assessments provide relevant, timely feedback to promote continuous improvement.
  • Real-world application: Learning outcomes are clear, measurable, and directly applicable to real-world challenges.

Competency Levels: From 0 to 4

Your capstones will be graded on this rubric scale from 0 to 4, where:

  • 0 - Not Evident: No evidence of competency is displayed.
  • 1 - Emerging: Basic traces of competency are present but incomplete.
  • 2 - Developing: Competency is demonstrated but only partially adequate.
  • 3 - Proficient: Competency is adequately demonstrated as expected.
  • 4 - Mastering: The performance exceeds expectations with confident and intuitive application.

Rubric levels will be awarded to each deliverable which supports parts of the capstone. The final grade of the rubric will be an average of the points achieved/total points. This will turn out a percentage. This percentage will from 60% of your final grade for the challenge.

Receiving a Not yet achieved

If you receive below 0 (a "Not yet achieved" grade) for your rubrics these will be highlighted by the challenge owner/tutor in your feedback, and you’ll be given the opportunity to resubmit your work via the app.

Resubmissions should occur within 1 week of receiving feedback. If you require an extension here, please reach out to the challenge owner/tutor who graded your work.

You are permitted 5 submission attempts in total for each challenge. If you are still unable to achieve the challenge at this point, you will need to retake the challenge and submit again with the next cohort.

Challenge completion

On completion of all weighted assessment components (live session participation, lesson completion and capstone completion) your final percentage completion will be translated to the following grades:

Percent Range Note (Grade) Description (English/German) ECTS Grade
