What are the Activation Labs?
Activation Labs provide structure and focus for the Activation Phase, allowing learners to tailor their thesis work based on their academic and professional interests. 🧑🎓
Entrepreneurship Lab
Focus: Design and test business ideas, leveraging data and research to develop sustainable business models. 💡
Research and Impact Lab
Focus: Conduct in-depth research on sustainability, technology, and societal impact using rigorous methodologies. 🌍
Transformation Lab
Focus: Design, implement, or evaluate sustainable solutions for organizations. This includes, for example, new business models, ESG management, reporting, leadership, and change management. 🔄
Technology Lab
Focus: Engage in AI, machine learning, and software development to address sustainability challenges. 🤖
When does the Activation Phase take place?
The Activation Phase is the last phase of the program. You should have completed the Orientation, Calibration, and Elevation phases before entering this phase. 📅
Can I start the Activation Phase early?
You should follow your program schedule to officially enroll in the Activation Lab. However, you are welcome to start working on your research at any point. Here are some best practices to get started with your thesis:

- 📚 Review literature: Conduct preliminary research to understand existing work in your area of interest.
- 📝 Draft ideas: Begin drafting possible research questions or project outlines.
- 🤝 Consult your peers: Discuss your ideas with classmates or mentors to refine your approach.
How do I choose which lab?
Start thinking about what kind of output your thesis will have. Each lab has a different focus, so aligning your interests and thesis goals with a specific lab will help you make the best choice. 🎯
Does it matter which program I am from to choose a lab?
No, you can choose any lab, but be attentive to what you would like the output of your thesis to be. 🔍

Will I have a supervisor?
You will have access to an academic supervisor at Tomorrow University. This will be defined once you join the lab and start working on the topic of your thesis. It is also possible to have a mentor or co-supervisor if you are working in partnership with an external company or project. 👩🏫👨🏫
What kind of support will I get?
You will have three live sessions at the beginning of your lab to define your topic and work on your thesis proposal. From there, you will be allocated a supervisor and will have monthly supervision check-ins to discuss progress, define actions, and receive feedback. You are also encouraged to define how the supervision will work directly with your supervisor, finding a structure that works for both of you. 🤝
What is the format of my thesis?
You will find the structure and thesis format as part of your Activation Lab resources. There is a lot of flexibility, and you are welcome to discuss a personalized structure with your supervisor.

What is the outcome of the Activation Phase?
The main outcomes are:
- Written Thesis: A comprehensive, approximately 30-page document. ✍️
- Thesis Presentation: A formal presentation of your key findings and insights. 🗣️
Your thesis and presentation will be assessed against a competency framework available in the learning app. ✅
How is the thesis graded?
- Written Thesis: 80% of the final grade. 📖
- Thesis Presentation: 20% of the final grade. 🎤
- Grades are determined using the rubrics available in the app.
Additional Notes:
- The Thesis Proposal is assessed, and feedback is provided, but it does not count toward your final grade.
How long does it take for me to get my final grade?
You will receive your final grade up to 7 weeks from the thesis submission date in the app. ⏳
How do I submit my thesis and schedule my presentation?
- Submission: Submit your thesis via the app at least 2 weeks before the presentation date. 📤
- Scheduling: Book your presentation via the app, up to 90 days in advance. 📅
Diploma
Once you have received the final grade for your Activation Phase and there are no pending challenges, you can request your final official transcripts. The Diploma will be issued by the first graduation day. If you require a diploma ahead of time, please enquire with our internal team via the support platform, and your case will be assessed. 🎓
