Your Slack Community Space

A look into the different channels and how to best utilise them

💬 The ToU Slack Community

The ToU Slack Community is at the heart of how we stay connected with each other. Through our Slack Community, not only will you keep in touch with learners in your intake, but it is your portal to connecting with your global community, and finding the networks that will help you turn your mission into action.

To keep Community rich and navigable, Slack is organised around a few key layers;

🛣️ Community Pathways (start here)

Community Pathways are the primary way to engage with Community in a focused and meaningful way.

Each Pathway has its own dedicated Slack space, bringing together learners and alumni exploring similar themes, missions and directions. Within Pathway channels, you can:

  • Connect with peers aligned around shared interests
  • Share resources, tools and best practices
  • Ask questions and learn from others’ experiences
  • Stay up to date with Pathway events, Circles and Immersion moments

You’re encouraged to choose one Pathway as your main anchor, while remaining welcome to explore others. You aren’t added to a Pathway, it’s up to you to join one. Find your Pathway channel by searching the Slack (each Pathway starts with prefix #-cop-).

📣 Core Community Channels (your shared spaces)

These channels are the shared backbone of the ToU Community. Every learner is automatically added to these spaces, so you don’t need to hunt them down or decide where to start.

They’re where Community comes to life day-to-day, and you’ll naturally dip in and out depending on what you need: information, connection, inspiration or support.

🚀Start with these...

00. Community News

Your Community HQ. Weekly updates and key announcements from across ToU. Tip: If you only follow one channel, make it this one.

01. Introductions

Say hello, share a little about yourself and meet others joining the Community.

02. Your Community

A space to ask questions, sense-check ideas or explore something out loud with peers.

💡When you’re looking to get involved...

03. Events

Discover upcoming ToU Community events or share interesting events happening near you.

04. Jobs & Opportunities

Browse or share job postings, conferences, collaborations and opportunities across the network.

05. Content Library

Share articles, tools and resources others may find useful, thought-provoking or inspiring.

💞When you want to be seen and celebrate others...

06. Kudos & Shoutouts

Recognise fellow learners and alumni who are modelling our Community values.

07. Socials Showcase

Share your social posts so we can celebrate, amplify and support your visibility across the ToU network.

🌍When you’re on the move...

08. Travel Plans

Let others know where you’re going and connect with ToU peers along the way.

💗 Wellbeing Centre

The Wellbeing Centre is also a core Community channel, and you’ll be added automatically when you join ToU.

It’s a dedicated space focused on balance, resilience and sustainable growth during your studies.

This channel is a place to:

  • Share wellbeing resources and practices
  • Support and learn from each other
  • Build accountability and care within the Community

You’ll also see wellbeing moments intentionally woven into events and Immersions, a reminder that success at ToU includes looking after yourself, not just your output or impact.

🌍 Action Hubs (Local connection)

Action Hubs connect you with other learners and Alumni in your local area. They’re a space to:

  • Meet peers near you
  • Organise local meetups
  • Create impact in your own context

Action Hub channels all start with the prefix #-m-action-hub. Join the one closest to you, or more than one if you move around.

💭 Learning & Academic Channels

These spaces support your academic journey alongside Community:

  • Onboarding Channels

When you join ToU, you’ll be added to a dedicated onboarding channel that support your transition into the Community and ToU during your first months.

  • Program Intake Channels

Every learner is added to a Program channel when they join ToU. This is where you connect with peers who started at the same time and with your Programme Director.

Programme channels follow the format: #-bx-sept-25

  • Challenge Channels

For each Challenge, you’ll join a dedicated channel where you can connect with the Challenge Owner, tutors and fellow learners. You can find the link to the channel when you sign up to a Challenge in the Learning Platform.

These channels typically start with: #-chl-

🚀 Mission Group Channels (peer support)

Your Mission Group channel is your space to connect with your Mission Group throughout your studies. This is where you’ll be introduced to your matched accountability and support peer group and where you can reflect, support one another and collaborate over time. How you use this space is completely up to you.

Mission Group channels start with: #-mission-group-

🧹 Keeping Slack manageable

As you progress through your studies, your Slack space can grow quickly. We recommend regularly organising your channels so Community stays supportive rather than overwhelming.

👉 Check out this 1-minute video on how to organise your Slack channels in a way that works for you.

You don’t need to be everywhere in Slack. Start with your Pathway, stay connected through Community News, and build from there as your needs evolve.
