Learning Community Manager
🌎 Community Builder (Virtual)

What is it?
Helping us create a thriving, inclusive and relevant Community for all of our changemakers through providing engaging opportunities and events aligned to the ToU mission

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Understanding community interest and feedback through conducting surveys, polls or focus groups, either on a topic you are passionate about or more broadly about the Community offering
- Planning, creating and delivering engaging content (e.g. questions of the week, discussion topics, reports and research, sharing relevant events), either on a topic your passionate about, or for the wider global Community within the Community Slack channel
- Organising challenges or competitions within the community to spark engagement and skill development. These could be related to academic subjects, personal growth or other areas of interest.
- Organising at least one event or discussion roundtable per quarter, working with the members to agree topics and discussion facilitators (it doesn’t always have to be you!)

Who is this most suitable for?
This role is suitable for you if;
- You have a deep passion and interest for a specific topic, aligned to ToU’s mission or the wider spheres of sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation, or for Community Building
- You are interested in bringing likeminded individuals together to discuss ideas and thoughts, creating and facilitating a safe and engaging space that allows difference of thought and opinion
- You are an aspiring thought leader in a particular space, looking to raise your personal brand and profile within a sector or industry
- You have a creative flair, and enjoy creating engaging and fun experiences!
🔵 Circle Lead (Virtual)

What is it?
Circles are a key component of the ToU learning experience. Circle Leads bring together other learners with a shared identity for mutual support, learning and deep connection, supporting each other in growing and overcoming challenges together.

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Developing the Circle purpose, constitution and structure. The focus of your Circle can be open, but should be based around an identity or characteristic.
- Working with the Community Team to promote and launch the Circle
- Coordinating and facilitating the Circle activity plan (at least one monthly virtual discussion Circle session and at least one event per quarter)

- Gathering feedback from your Circle members and maintaining engagement in the Slack space by regular posting and commenting
- Feeding learnings or reflection to the wider ToU Community

Who is this most suitable for?
This role is suitable for you if;
- You’re looking to develop your coaching or leadership skills further
- You are passionate about bringing people together around an identity
- You are able to communicate with empathy, inclusion and compassion
⚽ Club Host

What is it?
Clubs are informal, learner led groups that bring learners together with common interests, hobbies and passions
Want to establish ToU's first squash team or tennis tournament? Start a club! -
What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Launching the club and ongoing promotion
- Creating engaging ways to regular connect new and established club members, including engagement in the Slack space by regular posting and commenting to maintain a vibrant membership

This role is suitable for you if;
- You’re super passionate about a specific hobby or interest that you would like to share with others
- You are creative in finding fun ways to connect people in a way that transcends geographical boundaries around that interest

🎫 Community Event or Workshop Host (Virtual or in person)

What is it?
Benefit the wider ToU Community by running a workshop, event or Community project, to share your knowledge, experience or skills and maximise the impact of learners. This can take place as part of our Community Immersion, or separately.

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Developing the workshop or project brief
- Creating the content or community project structure (note the main focus should be training and practical exercises involving learning and the application of skills, not just presentations) liaising with any other presenters and/or facilitators (see Viz for Good for inspiration)
- Developing resources like guides, templates or tutorials that can support the wider community achieve their goals, as well as the learners involved in the workshop or project
- Promoting the opportunities to other learners and potential learners (if applicable) with support from the ToU team
- Recording attendance and gathering feedback

- You would like to apply and develop your facilitation and influencing skills
- You enjoy helping others learn and develop in an engaging and creative way

📍Action Hub Lead (Location Specific)

What is it?
Step into the role of Action Hub Lead and host events, study sessions or volunteering opportunities for members of your local ToU chapter.

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Organising monthly events for the ToU learners and community members to gather in meaningful ways and locations (for example, around sports, at a sustainability venue, for a city clean up, at a climate demo, etc)
- Promoting your event within the Community and on the ToU platform (supported by Community Team)
- Documenting the events with photos that can be shared on ToU’s social media channels and sharing yourself on your own social media and within the ToU Community Slack channel
- Report back to the Community Team on who attended
- Electing a deputy to take over on months where you are not available

Who is this most suitable for?
This role is suitable for you if;
- You are located in or near one of our Action Hubs
- You’re interested in expanding your local network and love engaging new people
- You are creative and entrepreneurial, with a knowledge of or interest in finding unique and accessible experiences in your neighbourhood
🤝 Community Immersion Organiser (Virtual or in person)

What is it?
Our quarterly Community Immersions are becoming bigger and bigger and we want YOU to be involved in crafting exquisite experiences for yourself and the wider ToU Community. Help us make our flagship Community offering the best experience for other Learners!

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Supporting with theme and agenda planning
- Hands on event planning, including helping with external speaker and venue acquisition
- Owning the in person extracurricular programming, finding sustainability related activities and sports, including locating sustainable hotels and restaurants
- Owning elements of delivery of the Immersion, including facilitation of at least one workshop and/or activity through the event

This role is suitable for you if;
- You are excited by creating memorable experiences where people can create long lasting in person connections
- You are located in or near Vienna in June 2025, or looking to flex your muscles in the online experience space

💞Subject-Specific Peer Mentoring
- What is it?
- What will I be doing?
As a Subject-Specific Mentor, you will:- Mentor learners in areas related to Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, or Technology, based on your expertise
- Offer actionable advice, guidance, goal setting and alignment checks
- Create mentoring plans to guide mentees; This could include setting goals, creating implementation plans, or recommending skill-building exercises
- Conduct sessions that can be one-on-one or group-based, ensuring mentees receive personalized attention or benefit from collaborative discussions

- Encourage dialogue, curiosity, and creativity, creating a space where mentees feel empowered to ask questions, challenge ideas and develop themselves
- Who is this most suitable for?
- You have specialised knowledge in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship or Technology, or an area that matters to you and want to share it with others
- You are passionate about helping others learn and grow while building your facilitation and coaching skills
- You enjoy designing personalised and impactful learning experiences
- You are looking for ways to contribute to the community while building your personal brand as a thought leader in your field.
🏛️ Learner Council Member (Virtual)

What is it?
Represent your fellow Learners by nominating yourself for the Learner Council!

What will I be doing?
You will be responsible for;
- Being the voice of your classmates; Share their ideas, concerns, and dreams with the university management.
- Making decisions that matter; Help shape university policies and programs.
- Connecting with other learners; Arrange feedback loops between learners and the ToU management, build strong Community engagement within your program on Slack and help organise onboarding events for new learners
- Organising the process for the following elections

Who is this most suitable for?
This role is suitable for you if;
- You are excited by creating change and improving the learner experience
- You are looking to develop or apply your leadership and influencing skills
- You are interested in building the role democracy and learner voice takes in the university experience

⚒️How to bring your idea to life
- Prepare: Review our different types of opportunities and decide on the impact you are looking to make. Do some research in the community to understand if something similar is planned or exists!
- Pitch: Put together a proposal for your initiative by submitting this form, so we can get an idea of what you would like to do!
- Prioritise: Schedule a meeting with our Community Team to discuss your idea and a timeframe - you can drop into the Community Office in Cosmos every Tuesday 5pm-6pm CET or Wednesday 9am-9.30am CET, or you can find a suitable slot in Jordan’s calendar here
- Plan: Once you have agreed timelines, time to finalise and build your plan for how you will deliver your initiative! Work backwards from the deadline to decide on key milestones
- Promote: A crucial part of delivering a successful initiative - promoting it to your Community! Consider which channels you will use to communicate, such as Slack and the monthly Community newsletter, and when
- Reflect: Running an event or workshops series? Make an outsized impact by sharing your key takeaways, learnings or inspiration in a post to the global learner Community to encourage others to get involved! Why not also extend this to your professional and social networks too, to celebrate and recognise your accomplishments!
