Setting up your own ToU Community Event

How to set up your own event for the ToU Community

✨ Why events matter at ToU

At Tomorrow University, Community Events are more than just meetings—they’re spaces for impact, connection, and inspiration.

  • Community as a Playground: Hosting events and initiatives offers you the opportunity to collaborate, co-create and experiment with ideas in a supportive space.
  • Safe Environment: They are inclusive and welcoming spaces, where every voice is valued and heard.
  • Real-World Impact: From sharing tools to sparking movements, events offer practical solutions that learners can apply beyond ToU, really helping you turn your passion into action.

🌱 Why YOU should host an event

Hosting your own Community Event is a chance to grow - not just within ToU, but in your personal and professional life too.

  • Competency mastery: Strengthen your leadership, facilitatio, and communication skills.
  • Confidence & ownership: You take the lead in your ToU experience, and with that comes a great sense of accomplishment.
  • Community connection: Deepen your ties with fellow learners and build meaningful connections, generating impact beyond your own learning.
  • Real experience: Gain hands-on event management skills and learn how to lead virtually and in person

💡 Setting up your own event

You don’t need to wait for permission to lead at ToU. If you have an idea, we encourage you to propose it and make it happen.

We have given you a structure to help you make this happen. From your initial idea, to promote it to your peers and wider networks, we’ve got you covered. Discover how to turn your idea into reality by reading through our guide.

Is your event or initiative already live and out in the world? In the second article we lead you through how you can successfully promote your event

Your idea to an event in five easy steps:

  1. Prepare your Event
    • Ask yourself:
      • What’s the topic?
      • Why should learners attend?
      • Who is it for?
      • What format fits best (e.g., Workshop, Circle, Climate Fresk)?
      • What’s the intended outcome?
  2. Propose your Idea:
    • Submit your proposed idea via the Community Initiative Proposal Form
    • The Community Team will then review within five working days and come back to you via Slack!
    • Please note - we typically recommend at least four weeks of promotion time, so factor that into your planning!
  3. Choose a Platform
    • By default, events are hosted on Cosmos in the Events Space
    • If you’re hosting elsewhere (e.g. Zoom, IRL), clarify in your proposal
  4. Schedule the Date
    • Check what's already being scheduled to find a suitable data and time
    • Avoid overlaps with other events
    • Add your proposed time and dates and let the Community Team know via Slack DM, so we can review against the live session schedule
  5. Make it live:
  • Once approved, now it’s time to bring it to life;
    • Draft a word doc with the following information included
      • Event title
      • Date and time
      • Your name, picture, program and job title
      • What to expect
      • Why learners should attend
      • A bit about you
      • See an example here
    • Share this with the Community Team via Slack DM for review and feedback
    • Once approved, allow up to 5 working days for it to go live in the app

➡️ This is an example how it looks like on the website once it is live, so make sure that you give us the most relevant information.
