What to Expect in the Orientation Phase

After completing your onboarding journey, you’ll transition into your first official learning phase at Tomorrow University: the Orientation Phase.

This phase is designed to give you the foundational knowledge, mindset, and skills needed to succeed in your program. You’ll begin shaping your personal direction, connect with your peers, and build core capabilities that will support you throughout your studies.

🧠 What You’ll Learn

In the Orientation Phase, all learners will:

  • Understand Tomorrow University’s challenge-based learning approach
  • Begin shaping your personal mission and long-term goals
  • Build fundamental skills in tech, innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship and leadership
  • Get to know the faculty and community supporting your growth

What’s Included in the Orientation Phase?

The Orientation Phase is built around two core elements:

1. ToU Core Challenges: Mandatory for All Degrees

All learners complete the following foundational challenges:

  • Mission Identification (MI)
  • Build Your Dream Team (BYDT)

These challenges form the backbone of your learning journey, helping you define your purpose and how you collaborate with others.

2. Fundamental Skills Challenges

In addition to the core challenges, learners engage with fundamental skills challenges designed to build key capabilities across sustainability, business, and technology.

Fundamental skills challenges vary by type and amount required for each degree:

For Bachelor Programs (BA & BSc)

All Bachelors learners complete the mandatory ToU core orientation which includes two challenges:

  • Mission Identification (MI)
  • Build Your Dream Team (BYDT)

Bachelor learners then complete four mandatory fundamental skills challenges. These challenges vary by degree.

 🤖 BSc AIST includes:

  • Sustainability Foundations
  • Technology Revolutions
  • Introduction to Coding
  • Introduction to Digital Strategy

🎁 BA REM includes:

  • Sustainability Foundations
  • Introduction to Strategy
  • Introduction to Product Design
  • Introduction to Innovation & Entrepreneurship

For MBA and MSc Programs

All MBA and MSc learners complete the mandatory ToU core orientation which includes two challenges:

  • Mission Identification (MI)

  • Build Your Dream Team (BYDT)

Following this, the structure is more flexible, and designed for MBA and MSc learners to select the optimum fundamental skills which support their development. MBA and MSc learners should therefore complete one of the below fundamental skills challenges:

  • Introduction to Digital Strategy
  • Introduction to Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Sustainability Foundations

👉 This allows you to tailor your Orientation experience based on your background, interests, and learning goals.
