Guidelines for Contesting Grades

At Tomorrow University, we prioritize transparency and fairness in our grading process. If you believe your final grade is incorrect, you may contest it by following the guidelines below.

🎓 Grade Contestation & Re-evaluation Policy

As part of our learner-centered and challenge-based approach, you’re encouraged to take ownership of your learning journey — including understanding how your work is assessed.
Sometimes, you might not receive an “Achieved” on your first submission, and that’s perfectly okay. Every assessment at Tomorrow University is designed as a learning opportunity, supported by fair, transparent, and constructive feedback that helps you grow.

However, if you believe your work meets the assessment criteria and deserves a different grade, you may request a formal review. This page outlines everything you need to know before and after submission — and how to proceed if you wish to contest your grade.

🧭 Before Submission: Set Yourself Up for Success

📋 Review the Evaluation Criteria
Carefully read the challenge’s evaluation criteria and rubric. Understand what’s being assessed and how your work will be measured.

💬 Ask Questions Early
Use the challenge Slack channel or live sessions to ask questions about the evaluation criteria, structure, or expectations. Dedicated time is always provided for discussions before final submissions.

🚀 Share Your Work-in-Progress
Post drafts or ideas in Slack or discuss them during sessions. Tutors and Challenge Owners can offer preliminary feedback that helps you align with expectations.

📚 Check Case Studies
When available, review previous high-quality submissions and their tutor feedback. Observe how others addressed the criteria and reflect on how you can apply similar strategies.

Note: Some newer challenges may not yet have case studies available.

🔍 After Submission: Reviewing Your Feedback

Once graded, your feedback will usually include:

  1. A general reflection on your work

  2. Strengths and achievements

  3. Areas that need improvement

  4. Clear explanations of unmet criteria

  5. Guidance on how to meet missing criteria

  6. A positive summary reflection

Next Steps if You Receive “Not Yet Achieved”

  • Revisit your feedback — especially the improvement guidance.

  • Compare with case studies to identify what’s missing.

  • Discuss with your Tutor or Challenge Owner if you need clarification or feel your work was assessed unfairly.

If disagreement remains after discussion, you may formally contest your grade.

⚙️ Scenarios & Next Steps

1️⃣ “Not Achieved” – Within Grace Period
✔ No contestation needed.
✔ Simply re-submit within the grace period after implementing feedback.

2️⃣ “Not Achieved” – Outside Grace Period
✔ First, contact your Tutor for clarification.
✔ If unresolved, submit a Grade Contestation Request Form.
✔ Include a clear justification and evidence from your work showing how criteria were met.

3️⃣ “Achieved” – But You Disagree with the Grade
✔ Contact your Tutor or Challenge Owner for discussion.
✔ If disagreement remains, submit a Grade Contestation Request Form with your justification and supporting evidence.

🧾 Re-assessment Process

📌 Grade contestations are reviewed by your Program Director or a designated independent assessor.
📅 You’ll receive the final decision within 4 weeks of your request.

⚖️ Grade Re-evaluation Policy

When you contest a grade, your work undergoes a formal re-evaluation to ensure fairness, accuracy, and academic integrity.
This process may be handled by the original assessor or an independent reviewer.

👉 Possible outcomes:

  • Your grade may increase if the original marking was too strict.

  • It may remain the same if the initial grade was fair.

  • It may decrease if the original grade was too generous.

By submitting a contestation request, you acknowledge and accept that your grade could go up, stay the same, or go down.
Once re-evaluated, the new grade is final and binding.

💡 Important Notes

⚠️ Grade updates appear on your final transcript, not in the app.
⚠️ Ensure your contestation request is clear, respectful, and supported by evidence.
⚠️ For clarification, contact Academic Support or your Program Director.
