Here you can find an overview of our live sessions policy and the benefit of community learning
At Tomorrow University, we believe that learning isnβt just simply acquiring knowledge. Your experience is about engaging, debating, and co-creating ideas with your peers. Thatβs why our weekly live sessions are a core part of your learning experience. They are your opportunity to connect with subject matter experts, engage in real-time discussions, and truly bring your learning to life.
Why Live Sessions Matter
Live sessions at ToU are designed to bring ideas to life through active discussions, debates, and peer learning. Research consistently shows that students in active learning environments are 1.5 times more likely to succeed than those in passive lecture-based courses (Freeman et al., 2014). Additionally, interactive learning leads to long-term retention, while passive learning can result in a 92% knowledge loss within six months (Minerva University, 2019).
For this experience to be truly impactful, every learner must be fully present and engaged. To strengthen our learning community, we are introducing new live session policies effective March 31, 2025 to ensure everyone benefits from the full experience.
Live Session Policy Updates
Starting March 31, 2025, the following updates will take effect to enhance engagement and foster a thriving learning environment:
β Attendance is Mandatory
Live sessions are a core part of your learning journey and require active participation. To confirm participation, learners must check into their live session in the app within 30 minutes after it ends. This ensures engagement and accountability within our learning community.
Here's how to check into your live session:
π₯ Cameras Must Be On
Being visually present fosters connection, accountability, and meaningful participation.
π§ Full Cognitive Presence is Required
Multitasking during sessions such as driving, cooking, or engaging in other activities is highly discouraged to ensure full focus on learning.
π΄ No More Default Recordings
To maintain an interactive environment, recordings will no longer be provided by default. Active engagement in real-time discussions leads to better knowledge retention and deeper learning experiences. Below we outline what you can do if you miss a session.
How This Benefits You
These updates are designed to enhance your learning experience and help you get the most out of your time at ToU. By actively engaging in discussions, sharing perspectives, and debating ideas, you will:
π Build a global network β Connect with peers, mentors, and industry experts in real time.
π‘ Strengthen your skills β Develop critical thinking, communication, and collaboration abilities essential for career success.
π Retain and apply knowledge better β Active participation significantly improves learning retention and mastery.
π Maximize your ToU experience β Engage fully in our forward-thinking university model that prioritizes real-world impact and deep learning.
What If I Miss a Session?
We understand that life happens. If you are unable to attend a session, you can:
β‘οΈ Catch up through a cohort buddy β Review key takeaways from a peer.
β‘οΈ Access shared resources β Challenge Owners will post slides, documents, and key references in the relevant Slack channel.
β‘οΈ Join office hours β Office hours are available for additional support and guidance from tutors.
Why Community Engagement Matters
At ToU, we are a community of changemakers. Your participation benefits you AND your peers. By showing up, contributing to discussions, and engaging in debates, you help others grow, challenge ideas, and create an enriching environment where everyone thrives together.
Our university is built on collaboration, shared knowledge, and co-creation, and each of us has a responsibility to uphold these values. Active participation fosters a thriving, engaged community where learners support and inspire each other. Together, we are building something bigger.
Thank you for being an integral part of this transformative learning journey.π
