The Community Directory

How to set up and make the most of the Community Directory and your Member Profile

The Community Directory is the searchable layer of the ToU community. It exists so you can find the right person, based on the things you care about.

The directory brings together learner and alumni profiles from across our global community. You can search by mission, area of expertise, industry, what someone is offering, what help they're looking for, or where they are.

Every profile represents a real person in this community who has chosen to be findable. Check out the video below to see the features;

🎯Why should I use it?

Because the person who can help you is almost certainly already here, you just can’t see them yet.

Somewhere in this community is someone who has solved the problem you're stuck on, worked in the industry you're moving into, or is looking for exactly the skills you have. Without the Directory, sometimes finding them depends on luck and timing.

The Directory is only as powerful as the Community members who decide to complete their profile, and keep it updated.

We recommend spending a few minutes updating your profile after completing a phase. It’s a great time to reflect on whether your mission still holds true, or whether you want to adapt it. This is also a great time to update your experience, offers and asks, especially if you’ve hit a new personal or professional milestone e.g. new job, moved countries, founding a company

💞How do I set up my profile?

Your profile is created automatically when you join ToU, but it needs completing before it becomes discoverable.

  1. Log in to the learning platform and head to https://app.tomorrow.university/community/members
  2. You will be prompted to complete or update your profile
  3. Save your profile
  4. Start searching and building your network!

You can update your profile any time by heading to your profile and clicking the “edit” tab

💪What makes a good profile?

A strong profile includes:

  • Your mission
  • A bit about you and your background
  • Your areas of expertise or interest
  • What you're open to supporting someone else with
  • The help you’re looking for
  • Your location, if you're happy to share it

The more specific you are, the more likely the right person finds you.

🗣️How do I find people?

You can search by keywords, sector, programmes, expertise, offers, asks or location. When you find someone useful, you can reach out via the Slack button on their profile page.

You also don't have to start from scratch. The Directory also gives you a few ways in:

  • AI recommended connections - based on your profile and mission, the directory will suggest people worth connecting with. A good place to start if you're not sure who you're looking for yet
  • People on your program - find and connect with others on the same program as you, or Alumni who have completed their journey
  • Other members near you - use the map tool to find other learners around the same location as you (note: this is only available if someone has chosen to share their location publicly)
  • Community Leaders - find Mentors, Learner Assembly representatives, and other community leaders you may want to reach out to directly

🤔 What’s the difference between the Community Directory & Slack?

Slack is your Community, in real time. The Directory is for when you are searching for something or someone specific.

Community Directory Slack
Job Finding the right person Talking to people in real time
Mode Asynchronous, searchable, structured Conversational, live
You use it when You know what you need and want to find who can help You want to be part of an ongoing conversation or ask something now
It’s like A directory or address book A room full of people talking

Use the Directory to find someone. Use Slack to talk to everyone.

🚀Is my profile also a record of my achievements?

Yes. Your profile automatically houses a record of what you've completed at ToU, Impact Certificates and challenge completions, including your deliverables, as you earn them.

This record is yours by default. You choose whether to keep it private, for your own reference, or share it with the community as part of your visible profile. Either way, you control what is shared with the wider world.

📢 Showcase your profile publicly

Set your Tomorrow University profile to public so anyone can view it without logging into the learning platform. A public profile lets you share your completed challenges, gained competencies, and mission statement with your network - recruiters, peers, or anyone outside the university - via a link they can open directly. This is super useful if you want to use it as a living CV, or point people outside ToU toward the work you've done and what you're open to next. This is entirely optional and within your control.
