Can I change from the MSc SET to another program?

Switching from the WU/ToU MSc in Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Technology to a ToU MBA or MSc program

While we are exceptionally proud of the PM/MSc SET we understand that you may find our other programs more aligned to your needs and mission. As such, you may want to switch from the MSc SET to either our internal IMBA or MSc SIT programs.
While this is a possibility, before engaging in this process, please review the below materials and consider in great depth, why you believe the MSc SET program is no longer suitable?:

Academic requirements:

The MBA program requires at least 3 years of professional experience, whilst the MSc SIT requires a bachelors degree. Prior to being accepted onto either program you'll be required to submit an application via our website to determine you meet the entry requirements (see below).

Fees and ECTs

Prior to switching programs, you will need to pay at least 50% of the total MSc SET program fee. This amount will be deducted from your new program fee, and you will also be able to transfer ECTs to your new program . This amount will be discussed with you in the applications and payment phase (see below).

Reviewing the updated Impact certificates.

As many learners have expressed an interest in some of the Calibration phase Impact certificates offered outside of the program, we have now made more certificates available to those studying the MSc SET. These certificates include:

Sustainability:

  • Foundations of climate sciences (CO: Sami Asad): The science behind climate change, habitat loss and biodiversity decline. Understanding how earth systems can be leveraged to address SDGs and how to implement science based sustainable land management.
  • Climate accounting and reporting (CO: Maren Kropfeld & Sami Asad): Understanding and estimating organizational GHG emissions, developing strategies for emissions reductions and communicating sustainability reporting data to regulators and stakeholders.

Entrepreneurship:

  • Planet-centric Thinking (CO: Sami Asad): How to innovate and design resource-efficient, planet-centric products inspired by nature and aligned with circular design principles to address the challenges of unsustainable practices, resource scarcity, and environmental degradation.

Technology:

  • Data Science Fundamentals (CO: Jonathan Costa): Introduction to data science methodologies, covering data preprocessing, visualization, and basic machine learning concepts.
  • Applied Machine Learning (CO: Jonathan Costa): Learn practical machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, and apply them to sustainability-focused challenges. (requires fundamental data science knowledge)
  • Advanced Machine Learning (CO: Jonathan Costa): Master complex AI models, deep learning frameworks, and optimization techniques for large-scale data problems (requires advanced machine learning and data science knowledge)
  • Data Mastery for Everyone (CO: Jonathan Costa):Using Tableau for Business Intelligence via developing expertise in data visualization to support business decision-making and strategy development.
  • AI for Everyone (CO: Jonathan Costa): Gain insights into AI trends, ethical AI considerations, and its application in various industries.

Before discussing switching programs with our team, please review these ICs. If these align with your expectations and needs then we highly recommend continuing your studies on the MSc SET in order to avoid additional fees and delays caused by transitioning to another program.

I’ve reviewed the information and still want to transfer

If after reviewing the above information you still want to transfer to a different program, please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the application form: Please complete the attached Program transition request form. In this form, you'll be prompted to:
    • Share you current progress details
    • The program you'd like to transition to
    • Reasoning behind this request
    • Schedule a check-in call with your program director (Sami Asad)
  2. Meet your program director: Meet with your program director to discuss your interest in switching to another program. This will include discussing why the current program is not meeting your expectations, and why you believe another program is more aligned with your needs, expectations and mission.
  3. Meet with the WU program director: Following the meeting with your PD, a decision will be made if your request to join a different program is justified, and your MSc SET contract ended. If this is approved, you will attend one more meeting with the WU program director: Christof Miska, to discuss your justification for leaving the program.
  4. Approval and transition: Once your request to transition has been reviewed a decision will be made. If it is approved, you will need to complete the program application form for your chosen program (MBA, MSIT).
  5. Review your contract: You will be sent a new contract, which is adjusted to contain the new payment information (see the above transition fee details above and the new program cost detailed in your contract). Payment is due in one installment seven days after contract signature.
  6. Sign the contract and get started: Sign your new contract and receive your invoice (if applicable) for your new program
